We are brothers and co-directors based in Berlin and Vienna. In 2017, we founded vajda film to produce our independent films. Our mid-length film Jesus Egon Christus premiered at IFFR and the 71st Berlinale in 2021 and was shown at several festivals around the world.
David Vajda (33) did a BA in Philosophy in London (2012) and a scholarship-funded Masters in International Politics at Cambridge (2014). After venturing out into journalism for a while (Guardian, Financial Times Magazine, Reportagen) he decided to concentrate on filmmaking. He has worked for several documentary productions since. After publishing a couple of short stories over the past years, he recently signed a book deal with Hanser Berlin. He is currently developing his first feature film Egon Buys Air Conditioning (WT).
Saša Vajda (36) taught himself filmmaking after completing his Philosophy studies at the Sorbonne in Paris. He interned with the Berlin-based feature film production company Detailfilm/Zentropa, has worked on a BBC documentary and as a street caster for the Dau films by Ilya Khrzhanovsky. He also works as a freelance photographer (www.sasavajda.com). Saša is currently developing his coming-of-age feature The Lights, They Fall.
Chantal Scheiner (36) joined vajda film in 2022 as a partner and producer. She is currently developing Saša’s first feature film The Lights, They Fall.
